Hi all, I'm looking to put together my own boards for travel-sized magnetic board games. I disassembled a fairly common one, and found that the board is actually in three pieces - there's a paper layer on top that the actual board graphic is printed on, a paper-thin metal sheet, and then another paper layer that's glued to the plastic game board.You can always add more magnets as needed for larger models. If it's too strong for smaller models, you can also possibly move the magnet further into the base so it isn't completely flush.
