As David mentioned, I'm not talking about the equipotential bond. I'm talking about the jumper from a wet niche to the junction box. Also, it does have to land on the EGC bar in the junction box.

I ran a jumper to the acc positive in the fuse box from the battery and got some confusing results. That seemed to power up the fuses but still no lights, etc.. Found the frame ground, cleaned it and it checks out. Remove the OEM "dogbone" and replace with a modern fuse holder and fuse. Second thought is starter button. If it is sticky and doesn't return all the way out, it could also cause electrical shutdown. On my 1100 I installed a relay to power the fuse panel. I did this to remove the high current load from going through the ignition switch because I'd read numerous posts about ignition switches overheating and I wanted to avoid this.
Tha fuse powers the CB radio, Stereo/cassette deck, Instrument panel indicator illumination and Trunk light.
Easiest way to verify that is remove the accessory fuse then see if you still have power on that wire, the key needs to be turned on. I haven't seen or heard of an electrical troubleshooting "book" for the 1200 but we do have the wiring diagrams in the Gallery. Relays provide for very low switching current actively and remotely, which is easy on the fuel pump. A relay allows an action of one circuit to control another, and generally ties to additional circuits due to higher load or functional demands.
I have used this relay to install a new fuse block to take care of add-ons, and to deliver "clean" power to the coils and RR. The 12VDC power to the RR and coils comes from the new fuse block on a fused wire. My question: there is a heavy black wire going from the starter relay to the starter, according to the wiring diagram in my Clymer manual.
